Tsao Pao Chee
TPC (Tsao Pao Chee) is a multinational purpose-led profit business that serves the well-being of life. Founded as a family business in the late 1800s, during the Qing Dynasty, it has evolved over four generations to become a business ecosystem that adds value to the flourishing of Life in this Well-being Era. TPC (Tsao Pao Chee) is a fourth-generation purpose-led profit family business with a mission “To serve the well-being of Life and create wealth at the same time”

OUR STORY, EVOLVING TO SERVE EACH ERA
Foreign Trade During the Qing Dynasty
The Tsao family business started with Tsao Wa-Chang, who founded a passenger-cargo transport and warehousing business along the Yangtze River to serve the needs of foreign trade in China. He operated his business under the trade name Tsao Pao Chee, with prudence and integrity that opened opportunities and resources to grow.
Industrialisation of Northeast Asia
George Tsao Ying-Yung, the second generation, built on the family business and expanded it into an integrated transportation and logistics business, including financial and import-export trading services. Under his stewardship, the business flourished by serving the industrialisation of Northeast Asia.
Venturing Beyond China
The third generation of the Tsao family, Frank Tsao Wen-King, relocated their family business to Hong Kong, China, after the conclusion of World War II. He established International Maritime Carriers (IMC) to provide ocean-going shipping services to serve the needs of Asia’s industrialisation. Frank Tsao played a crucial role in developing the Asian maritime industry. He received many accolades for his contributions to its growth and development.
Trade Globalisation and the Well-Being and Happiness Era
In 1995, Chavalit Frederick Tsao assumed the role of the fourth-generation steward of the family business. With trade globalisation taking centre stage, he believes success is co-created for mutual flourishing and evolution. Chavalit formed IMC Pan Asia Alliance (IMCPAA), which made strategic alliances for collaboration and built a multinational business. In 2024, Chavalit decided to bring back the family business’ original trade name, Tsao Pao Chee with the brand TPC, as that has always been its true brand, where its roots and culture, morality and ethical traditions have sustained the business for generations.
Staying true to its commitment to continuously evolve to serve the era, TPC (Tsao Pao Chee) is transforming into a well-being business, to serve the next era.
